My friend, Bob Hay, 2008 President of the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS, recently forwarded me a blog posting from one of his agents. I encourage every member to read it…
I want to personally thank Lisa Sanderson for her insightful comments. As you might imagine, I get a lot of e-mails from members, and some of them are critical of decisions we have made on issues. Criticism is healthy and expected – especially in an organization as big and diverse as NAR. In many ways, it makes us better.
Yet, what surprises me is that members rarely reach out to me and ask how they can join a committee and help influence our decisions on critical issues.
I got involved in NAR because I wanted to improve in my business, and I wanted to have a say in the decisions that impacted my profession. Once I volunteered, the opportunities kept coming. If any member wants to change the organization, take Lisa’s advice: Don’t just complain – get involved. Create a profile on Realtor.org, or if there is a specific way you want to contribute, leave a comment here.
